Game description:

Newpuc2 is an unlicensed Arcade hack of Namco’s Puckman (better known in the West as Pac-Man), one of many bootleg conversions that circulated on Pac-Man’s original hardware starting in 1980. Rather than a straight copy, it reworks the maze, the enemies, and the between-round bonus screens into its own distinct variant of the formula.

How to Play

Guide your character around the maze, eating every dot while avoiding the roaming enemies. Power pellets turn the tables briefly, but instead of simply flashing blue like in the original, the enemies here morph into a different creature shape entirely — they keep their normal color until they start flashing, so watch for the flash rather than the color to know your window is closing. The maze itself alternates every round between two versions: one is a fully visible layout with four escape tunnels, the other shows only the outer walls and dots, hiding the inner walls and leaving just three tunnels per side. In your browser, move with the arrow keys, press Shift to insert a coin, and Enter to start.

Tips

  • Learn the hidden maze by feel: since the inner walls disappear on the second maze layout, memorize the safe paths from the visible maze — the walls don’t move, only your view of them does.
  • Watch the flash, not the color: because power-pellet enemies don’t turn blue, timing your last capture around the flashing cue instead of a color change will save you from misjudged chases.
  • Use the slot machine: every third maze triggers a bonus slot-machine screen that hints at which maze type is coming up next, so a quick read of it tells you whether to expect the full or hidden layout.
