NBA Jam brings Midway's legendary two-on-two arcade basketball action to the Game Boy. Originally released in 1993, this port translates the fast-paced sporting genre to a handheld format while retaining the signature exaggerated dunks, fast breaks, and lack of fouls that made the original a massive hit.
The objective is to outscore the opposing team before the clock runs out. Play is straightforward with no free throws or complex plays to memorize. Using your browser, move your players with the arrow keys. Press the X key (mapping to the Game Boy's A button) to pass the ball on offense or attempt a steal on defense. Press the Z key (B button) to shoot or block. You can also use the Shift key (Select) to activate your turbo meter, enabling faster movement, harder shoves, and spectacular dunks.
Tips
- Catching Fire: If a single player scores three unanswered baskets, they become “On Fire.” This state grants unlimited turbo and dramatically increases shot accuracy from anywhere on the court until the opposing team scores.
- Strategic Shoving: Because there are no fouls, aggressively shoving your opponents is heavily encouraged. Use your turbo button combined with a steal attempt to safely knock down the ball handler and regain possession.
