Game description:

NBA All-Star Challenge is a one-on-one basketball game developed by Beam Software and released for the Sega Genesis in 1992, featuring 27 star players from the 1991-92 NBA season roster. Rather than full-court, five-on-five team matches, the game focuses entirely on head-to-head modes and skill contests. You can control legends like Patrick Ewing and Karl Malone in single-elimination Tournaments, Free Throw Contests, Three-Point Shootouts, and classic games of H-O-R-S-E.

How to Play

Your objective varies by mode, from outscoring a single opponent in a one-on-one match to nailing difficult shots in H-O-R-S-E to force your opponent into a miss. Use the Arrow Keys to move your player and navigate menus. The Genesis A, B, and C buttons (typically mapped to Z, X, and C on your keyboard) handle shooting, jumping to block, and stealing. Press Enter to start the game.

Tips

  • Practice your timing: The shooting mechanics and timing requirements change slightly depending on whether you are in a one-on-one match, shooting free throws, or competing in the Three-Point Shootout.
  • Watch your fouls: Even in casual one-on-one play, referees will call fouls for excessive reaching and goaltending. Play solid defense instead of constantly swiping for steals.
