Game description:

Monopoly for the NES is a digital adaptation of the classic Hasbro board game, published by SEGA Enterprises in 1987. Players take turns rolling dice and moving around the familiar 40-space board — buying properties, building houses and hotels, collecting rent, and negotiating trades — with the goal of driving every opponent into bankruptcy.

How to Play

Menus are navigated with the arrow keys; press X to confirm and Z to go back. On your turn the dice roll automatically. If you land on an unowned property you can buy it outright or send it to auction. Trades with other players can be proposed from the main action menu. Own all properties in a colour group and you can start building — houses first, then hotels — dramatically raising the rent anyone who lands there must pay.

Tips

  • The orange group (St. James Place, Tennessee Avenue, New York Avenue) is statistically the most-landed colour set on the board — securing it early delivers strong, sustained income throughout the game.
  • Owning all four railroads gives reliable, predictable rent that keeps you liquid while opponents overextend on building.
  • Build to three houses per property before upgrading to a hotel — that is where the rent-to-cost return is highest.
