Game description:

Mirai Ninja is a unique action-platformer developed by Namco and released exclusively in Japanese arcades in 1988. Tied directly into the tokusatsu film of the same name (also known as Cyber Ninja), the game puts you in control of the cyborg ninja Shiranui as he battles through a high-tech feudal setting. It stands out not just as a pioneering cross-media project, but also for its distinctive visuals running on Namco System 2 hardware.

How to Play

Your objective is to fight your way through armies of rival cyborgs and mechanized foes to rescue Princess Saki. Shiranui can throw shurikens for long-range attacks and automatically switches to his sword when enemies get close. By default in your browser, use the arrow keys to move and crouch, Z and X to attack and jump, and Enter to start the game.

Tips

Keep a close eye on your life meter in the corner, which is represented by kanji characters. As you take damage, Shiranui's appearance will visually degrade, shedding his advanced armor and reverting to more primitive technology. Use this visual cue to gauge when to play defensively and rely on shurikens to keep enemies at a distance.
