Mega Man V (released in Europe as Megaman V) for the Game Boy is a unique entry in the classic action-platformer series. Unlike the previous portable titles that reused Robot Masters from the NES games, this installment features an entirely original lineup of bosses known as the Stardroids, each themed around a planet in our solar system. In another major change, Mega Man replaces his trusty Mega Buster with the “Mega Arm”, allowing him to fire a rocket punch that returns like a boomerang.
How to Play
Your goal is to defeat the Stardroids, claim their unique weapons, and stop their invasion of Earth.
- D-Pad (Arrow Keys): Move
- A Button (Z or X): Jump
- B Button (X or Z): Shoot (hold to charge the Mega Arm)
- Start (Enter): Pause / Weapon Menu
- Select (Shift): Switch between abilities
Tips
- Grab the Mega Arm upgrades from Dr. Light’s lab early on. The “CL” upgrade allows your charged fist to latch onto enemies and deal continuous damage.
- Use your robot cat companion, Tango, in tight spots. When summoned, he transforms into a buzzsaw and bounces around the screen, shredding enemies in his path.
- Defeat Venus first to obtain the Bubble Bomb, which is highly effective against Mercury and useful for hitting enemies above you.
