Lord of the Sword is a side-scrolling action-adventure game released for the Sega Master System in 1988. You take on the role of Landau, a brave warrior on a quest to restore peace to the kingdom of Baljinya and claim its vacant throne. Blending platforming action with RPG elements, the game features a large, interconnected world filled with towns, castles, and treacherous wilderness. As you explore, you will need to fight off hordes of monsters, converse with villagers to gather clues, and complete specific quests to prove your worth as the rightful king.
How to play
Your objective is to pass three tests to become the king of Baljinya: find the Tree of Life, defeat the Goblin Lord, and destroy the Statue of Evil. You must explore the map, visiting towns to heal and get hints, while fighting enemies in the wild.
- D-Pad (Arrow Keys): Move Landau left or right. Press down to crouch, and up to enter doorways or talk to characters.
- Button 1 (Z): Attack enemies with your sword or bow.
- Button 2 (X): Jump over obstacles and enemies.
- Pause (Enter): Pause the game and check your current status.
Tips
- Talk to everyone: Villagers provide essential clues, items, and triggers for the next part of your quest. Be sure to speak to the elders in towns.
- Use the bow wisely: Your bow is highly effective against flying enemies or distant threats, but ammunition is limited. Defeat certain enemies to restock your arrows.
- Heal at inns: When your health runs low, return to a town and stay at an inn. It will fully restore your health and provide a password to save your progress.
