Lord of the Rings – Volume One is an action-RPG developed by Interplay and released for the SNES in 1994. Based on the events of The Fellowship of the Ring, the game lets players explore Middle-earth with real-time combat, starting as Frodo in the Shire and gradually gathering the rest of the fellowship.
How to play
Players navigate large environments, fighting enemies and completing quests to advance the story. You control the active character while the AI manages the rest of the party. In the browser, the SNES controls map to your keyboard: move with the arrow keys, use Z and X for action buttons A and B, A and S for X and Y, Q and E for the shoulder buttons, Shift for Select, and Enter for Start.
Tips
- The AI companions can be unreliable and often wander into danger. To keep the fellowship alive, manually take control of them to navigate around hazards or leave weaker members in safe areas during tough fights.
- The game supports multiplayer. Having a second player control another member of the fellowship is significantly more effective than relying on the AI.
