Image Fight Japan Revision A is a punishingly difficult vertical-scrolling arcade shooter developed by Irem in 1988. You pilot the OF-1 Daedalus through a series of combat simulations and real-world strikes against alien invaders. The game is famous for its intricate “pod” system, where you attach auxiliary guns that can be locked into specific firing angles or set to fire opposite to your movement, requiring precise positioning to survive the relentless bullet patterns.
How to Play
Survive the scrolling stages and defeat the boss at the end of each area. To play this arcade classic in your browser, press Shift to insert a coin and Enter to start. Use the Arrow Keys to maneuver your ship. Press Z to fire your main weapons and pods, and press X to adjust your ship’s movement speed on the fly.
Tips
- Mastering the pod angles is essential. In stages with enemies spawning behind you, carefully reverse your movement to point your flexible pods backwards before locking them.
- Don’t forget you can change your ship’s speed. Slower speeds are better for weaving through dense bullet mazes, while faster speeds help you quickly cross the screen to reposition.
- Aim to destroy as many enemies as possible in the first five “simulation” stages. If your kill rate falls below 90%, you’ll be sent to a brutal penalty stage before proceeding.
