Ikari III: The Rescue is a classic beat ’em up arcade game released by SNK in 1989. Diverging from the pure run-and-gun mechanics of its predecessors, this third installment focuses heavily on hand-to-hand combat. You play as soldiers Ralf and Clark, fighting your way through enemy lines on a mission to rescue the president’s child from terrorists.

How to Play

Your objective is to survive waves of enemies and defeat the boss at the end of each stage. Unlike the earlier games in the series, you will rely heavily on melee attacks, though weapons can be picked up along the way. In the browser emulator, use the Arrow Keys to move your character, and the Z, X, and C keys for your punch, kick, and jump attacks. Press Enter to start the game and insert a coin using Shift.

Tips

• Master the jump kick. It is incredibly effective for crowd control and getting out of tight spots when surrounded by enemies.
• Pick up weapons whenever possible. While limited, a machine gun or knife will give you a massive advantage over unarmed enemies.
