Gulf Storm is a 1991 vertically scrolling shoot ’em up from Dooyong, the Korean arcade maker best known for exporting its shooters to Japan, the US, and Europe. Set during the Gulf War, it puts you in the boots of a Rangers corps soldier who takes on a different vehicle each stage — a speedboat, a helicopter, and a motorcycle — blasting through tanks, gunboats, aircraft, and dug-in guns on the way to each stage’s boss. This is the “set 2” build of the game, one of the alternate ROM revisions archived for the machine alongside the original release.
How to Play
Move your vehicle and hose down everything in your path while dodging incoming fire; every stage ends with a boss you’ll need to out-shoot. The arcade original ran on an 8-way joystick with two buttons per player and supported two people playing at once. In the browser:

- Z / X – the two action buttons (shoot / bomb)

- Shift – insert coin
Tips
- Destroyed enemies drop three power-up types — grab the “P” pickups first to strengthen your weapon before the harder waves.
- Bombs (the “B” pickup) are limited, so hold onto them for boss fights rather than burning them on regular enemies.
- The game supports two simultaneous players, so bringing a second Ranger along makes the tank and ship swarms much more manageable.
