1943: The Battle of Midway is a classic vertical-scrolling shooter developed by Capcom and released for the NES in 1988. As the sequel to the hit arcade game 1942, players pilot a P-38 Lightning over the Pacific Ocean, battling waves of enemy aircraft and sinking naval fleets.
How to Play
Your objective is to reach and destroy the enemy battleship at the end of each stage while managing your plane’s energy meter, which acts as both health and fuel. Use the Arrow keys to move your fighter. Press Z to fire your weapons, and use X to perform an evasive loop or trigger a screen-clearing lightning attack that drains a portion of your energy. Press Enter to start or pause the game, and Shift for Select.
Tips
- Manage Your Energy: Your energy meter constantly drains over time and is depleted by taking damage. Prioritize collecting energy icons dropped by red enemy formations.
- Weapon Upgrades: Shoot the ‘Pow’ icons to cycle through different weapon types, like the wide-firing 3-Way or the auto-firing Auto, to best match the situation.
