Gold Medal Challenge ’92 is an Olympic-style sports game developed by Capcom for the NES in 1992. Focusing on track and field alongside swimming and weightlifting, it challenges you to compete across 18 different events to top the medal table. Unlike many sports titles of its era, it features a battery save to track world records and supports up to eight players taking turns, making it a definitive multi-event party game for the console.
How to play
Your goal is to win gold in a series of events ranging from the 100m dash and long jump to the marathon and javelin. Most events rely on rapidly alternating the A and B buttons to build speed or power, followed by a well-timed press of the directional pad to dictate angle and release.

Tips
- In the marathon, do not sprint immediately. Maintain a steady pace behind the lead pack and save your stamina for a final push in the last few kilometers.
- For jumping and throwing events, the optimal release angle is typically 45 degrees. Focus on building your run-up speed first before locking in the angle.
- If you are struggling with button-mashing fatigue during longer events like swimming, try sliding your index and middle fingers rapidly back and forth across the X and Z keys.
