Global Gladiators is a run-and-gun platformer released for the Sega Genesis in Europe in 1993 (it debuted in North America in late 1992 as Mick & Mack as the Global Gladiators). Developed by Virgin Games and programmed by David Perry, it casts you as Mick or Mack, two kids pulled into a comic book by Ronald McDonald and sent to clean up pollution across four themed worlds: Slime World, Mystical Forest, Toxi-Town and Arctic World.
How to play
Move with the D-pad; hold Left or Right to run. Button B fires your Super Soaker-style goo-shooter at the pollution monsters, and Button C jumps — hold it down for a higher jump. Each of the four worlds is split into three stages, twelve in total, and one bonus round has you sorting falling garbage into the correct paper, plastic or glass recycling bin while dodging falling anvils, using Button A to toss the trash.
Tips
- Button C’s jump height scales with how long you hold it, so tap for small hops over hazards and hold for full-height jumps onto platforms.
- In the recycling bonus round, watch the bin colors closely rather than the falling junk — a wrong bin costs you the bonus, and the anvils only punish hesitation.
