Game description:

Geostorm (released outside of Japan as Gunforce II) is an intense run-and-gun arcade game developed by Irem and released in 1994. Widely considered the spiritual predecessor to the Metal Slug series, the game was created by the same core development team that would later form Nazca Corporation. It is renowned for its incredibly detailed pixel art, chaotic multi-directional shooting, and challenging gameplay.

How to play

As a classic arcade shooter, your objective is to blast your way through enemy-filled levels, rescuing hostages and defeating massive bosses. You can move, jump, and fire in eight directions. A unique feature of Geostorm is the ability to dual-wield weapons, allowing you to fire two guns independently or simultaneously. You can also commandeer various enemy vehicles and turrets found throughout the stages.

Arcade Controls: Use the arrow keys to move and aim. Press Z to shoot and X to jump. Use Shift or Enter to insert coins and start the game.

Tips

  • Make full use of the dual-wielding system. Firing in multiple directions simultaneously is essential for surviving the game’s chaotic ambushes.
  • Rescuing hostages not only boosts your score but frequently rewards you with powerful weapon upgrades.
  • Whenever possible, hop into abandoned enemy vehicles like mechs and tanks. They provide extra firepower and serve as a shield against incoming enemy attacks.
