Galaga 3 (also known as Gaplus) is a classic arcade fixed shooter developed by Namco and released in 1984 as the direct sequel to the iconic Galaga. Building on the foundation of its predecessor, this fast-paced space shooter ramps up the intensity with faster enemy formations, new power-ups, and the ability for the player’s ship to move vertically across the lower half of the screen.
How to Play
Your objective is to destroy all the alien ships in each stage while dodging their attacks and kamikaze dives. Use the Arrow Keys to move your ship (left, right, up, and down) and Z or X to shoot. Use Enter or Shift if you need to insert coins or start. Unlike the previous game, you can shoot much more rapidly, making it easier to handle the aggressive enemy swarms.
Tips
- Get the Blaster Head: When a Queen alien carrying a special part dives, shoot it to equip the Blaster Head. This temporary upgrade acts as a tractor beam, allowing you to capture up to six enemies to fight alongside you and massively multiply your firepower.
- Use vertical movement: Don’t just stay glued to the bottom of the screen. Moving up can help you dodge sweeping attacks and destroy tricky enemies before they finish forming up at the top.
- Watch for trick dives: Enemies in this game often loop and change direction unexpectedly during their dives, so never assume an alien is moving in a straight line.
