G.I. Joe is a fast-paced third-person rail shooter released for the arcade by Konami in 1992. Taking a different approach from the typical beat-’em-ups of the era, this run-and-gun game uses sprite-scaling technology to send you running forward into the screen. Players choose from four classic charactersโDuke, Snake Eyes, Scarlett, or Roadblockโto dodge obstacles and blast through endless waves of Cobra forces in a global campaign to stop Cobra Commander.
The objective is to survive each stage by shooting enemies and dodging incoming fire as your character automatically runs forward. In the browser arcade emulator, use the Arrow Keys to move your character and aim your crosshair simultaneously. Press Z to fire your primary weapon and X to launch a devastating screen-clearing missile attack. Insert coins with Shift and start the game with Enter.
Keep moving constantly, as standing still makes you an easy target for enemy crosshairs and homing rockets. Save your missile attacks for desperate moments when the screen is flooded with enemies, or use them to quickly chip away at the tough end-of-level bosses.
