Game description:

Free Kick is a 1987 arcade game developed by Nihon System and licensed to Merit Industries for release in North America. Despite the soccer branding and title, it doesn’t play like a soccer sim: it’s a Breakout-style ball-and-paddle game with a football theme, where you keep a ball bouncing around the pitch to knock out rows of opposing players and clear each stage.

How to Play

Move your paddle along the pitch to keep the ball in play, using its bounces to strike the soccer players and obstacles arranged on screen. Clearing a stage’s targets or reaching the goal sends you on to the next round. The original cabinet used an 8-way joystick with 2 buttons and supported up to 2 players; in the browser, use the Arrow Keys to move, Z and X for the two action buttons, Enter to start, and Shift to insert a coin.
