Game description:

Released for the arcade in 1991, F 1 Grand Prix by Video System is a distinctive top-down racing game that marked one of the first officially licensed Formula One titles. Instead of the standard chase-cam view, the game keeps your car centered on the screen while the track and environment rotate around it, offering a unique and challenging driving perspective.

How to Play

Players can select between a full Grand Prix, a single race, or a best lap competition. Use the directional controls to steer and navigate the rotating track layout, and the primary action buttons to accelerate and brake. The game features a damage system where colliding with other cars or track barriers weakens your components, requiring you to carefully manage pit stops to repair your vehicle and stay in the race.

Tips

  • Plan Your Pit Stops: Do not ignore the damage indicator. It is better to sacrifice a few seconds in the pit lane than to be forced to retire early due to broken components.
  • Master the Rotation: The track-rotation mechanic can be disorienting at first. Focus your eyes slightly ahead of your car to anticipate upcoming turns rather than watching the edges of the screen.
