Driver 2: Back on the Streets is an action-driving game developed by Reflections Interactive and released for the PlayStation in 2000. Returning as undercover cop John Tanner, players explore four massive, fully 3D citiesโChicago, Havana, Las Vegas, and Rio de Janeiroโin a bid to prevent a mob war. A major addition over the original game is the ability to step out of your vehicle at any time to explore on foot or hijack other cars on the street, fundamentally expanding the open-world gameplay.
How to Play
The core objective is to complete a series of driving-focused missions involving tailing suspects, escaping police pursuits, and reaching destinations within a time limit. To play in the browser, the standard PlayStation controls are mapped to your keyboard:
- Arrow Keys: Steer and move
- Z / X / A / S: Face buttons (Z to accelerate, A to brake/reverse, X for handbrake, S to exit the vehicle)
- Enter / Shift: Start and Select
Tips
- Look for hidden vehicles: Each of the four cities features a hidden, unique vehicle that offers exceptional performance, such as the yellow hot rod in Chicago.
- Manage your felony meter: Driving erratically or speeding near police cruisers will quickly raise your felony bar and initiate a chase. Drive cleanly when the cops are around.
- Use handbrake turns: Mastering the handbrake is essential for taking sharp 90-degree city corners at high speed without crashing.
