Crash Bandicoot – Warped is a classic 3D platformer developed by Naughty Dog and released for the PlayStation in 1998. The third installment in the iconic series sends Crash and Coco on a time-traveling adventure to gather Crystals before the evil Uka Uka and Dr. Neo Cortex can get their hands on them. The game expands on its predecessors by introducing new varied environments, from medieval times and ancient Egypt to futuristic cities, along with specialized levels featuring motorcycle races, biplane dogfights, and deep-sea diving.
How to Play
Your main objective is to navigate each time period, smashing crates and defeating enemies to find the purple Crystal hidden in every level. The basic PlayStation controls translate well in the browser: use the Arrow keys for movement, Enter for Start, and your primary action keys (typically Z/X/C/S) for jumping, spinning, and crouching. Pressing the crouch button while running initiates a slide attack, and jumping during a slide gives Crash extra height.
Tips
- Unlock powers: Defeating each of the five bosses grants you a new permanent ability, such as the double jump, the death tornado spin, and the fruit bazooka. Revisit earlier levels once you have these powers to reach previously inaccessible areas and crates.
- Earn relics: Once you complete a level and grab its Crystal, you can re-enter it to start a Time Trial by touching the floating stopwatch. Breaking yellow crates pauses the timer, which is crucial for earning the coveted Sapphire, Gold, or Platinum relics.
- Hidden paths: Pay attention to the colored Gem paths in certain levels. You’ll need to find the corresponding colored Gem in a completely different time period first to unlock these challenging bonus routes.
