Cowboy Kid is an action-RPG released for the NES in 1992. Heavily inspired by the Ganbare Goemon (Mystical Ninja) series, the game trades feudal Japan for the American Wild West. You play as a young gunfighter who travels across the frontier, visiting towns, buying upgrades, and taking on bounties to hunt down dangerous outlaws. It also notably features a simultaneous two-player cooperative mode where a second player can join the adventure.
How to Play
Your objective is to explore the world, earn money, and defeat the wanted outlaws in each region. The default web emulator controls for the NES are mapped to your keyboard:
- Movement: Arrow keys
- A / B Buttons (Jump / Attack): Z and X
- Start / Select: Enter and Shift
Tips
- Play Mini-games: You can earn money by playing mini-games in town, such as blackjack or the shooting gallery, which is essential for affording better weapons and items.
- Rest Up: Don’t forget to visit the hotel in town to fully restore your health before heading out into the dangerous wilderness to face a bounty.
- Talk to Everyone: Speaking with the townsfolk is necessary to trigger certain events and find the local sheriff to accept bounties.
