🎮 Play Combatribes, The (USA) Online (SNES)

The Combatribes is a side-scrolling beat ’em up released for the Super Nintendo (SNES) in 1993 by Technōs Japan. You play as one of three cyborg vigilantes—Berserker, Bullova, or Blitz—tasked with taking down the rival street gangs of New York City. Unlike many of its contemporaries, the game places a heavy emphasis on visceral hand-to-hand combat moves over weapon use, allowing players to stomp on downed enemies, swing them by their ankles, or slam their heads together.

How to Play

The objective is to clear each gang-controlled territory and defeat its boss. Use the D-pad to move around the pseudo-3D environments. Press the Y button (typically mapped to the Z key on a keyboard) to attack and the B button (X key) to jump. Pressing both buttons together performs a special life-draining attack.

Tips

• Ground attacks are incredibly effective; always stomp on enemies when they are knocked down to finish them off quickly.
• If surrounded, use your character’s throw move to toss an enemy into the crowd, knocking down multiple foes at once.
• Unlike other beat ’em ups, there are no weapons to pick up and use, so focus purely on mastering your character’s grapple and slam techniques.
