Game description:

Clock Tower II: The Struggle Within (known as Clock Tower Ghost Head in Japan) is a classic survival horror point-and-click adventure released for the PlayStation in 1998. Developed by Human Entertainment, this chilling entry follows Alyssa Hale, a young woman who must navigate a nightmarish outbreak of the undead while grappling with Bates, her violent alternate personality. Unlike fast-paced action titles, the tension here comes from methodical exploration, resource gathering, and desperately finding hiding spots to evade pursuing enemies.

The game relies on a traditional point-and-click interface. You use the cursor to guide Alyssa through environments, examine objects, and manage your inventory to solve puzzles. The default PlayStation controls use the D-pad to move the cursor, the X button to interact or confirm actions, and the Square button as a “panic button” to sprint or struggle against attackers. The Triangle button opens your inventory. Managing Alyssa’s fear level is critical; if she becomes too panicked, she will be much harder to control.

When exploring, make sure to examine your surroundings carefully before danger strikes so you know where your potential hiding spots are. Switching to Alyssa’s alternate personality, Bates, is necessary to survive certain encounters, as he can use weapons and fight back where Alyssa can only flee. However, keep in mind that being Bates restricts certain puzzle-solving abilities, so you must learn when to use the amulet to switch between them effectively.
