WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game brings Midway’s 1995 arcade hit to PlayStation as a home conversion. Rather than simulating real wrestling, it plays like a fighting game, built on the same hard-hitting engine as Midway’s Mortal Kombat titles: real WWF stars of the mid-1990s, including Bret “Hitman” Hart, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, Razor Ramon, Yokozuna, and Doink the Clown, trade exaggerated punches, kicks, and over-the-top special moves in matches with no disqualifications.
How to Play
The goal in every match is to knock your opponent’s health bar to zero before yours runs out, using a mix of strikes, grapples, and each wrestler’s unique special move. Move with the directional pad, use the face buttons to throw punches and kicks, and grapple to pick up or whip your opponent. Since there’s no disqualification, you can knock opponents out of the ring or use the ropes to set up bigger hits. Taunting fills a power meter — once it’s full, unleash your wrestler’s signature over-the-top finisher for a shot at ending the match early.
Tips
- Build your power meter by taunting whenever you have room; a fully charged special move can turn around a losing match.
- Fighting near the ropes lets you knock opponents out of the ring for extra damage before they can climb back in.
