Chiyonofuji no Ooichou is a 1990 sumo wrestling sports simulation developed and published by Face for the Famicom (NES). Named in honor of legendary Yokozuna Chiyonofuji Mitsugu, the game brings traditional Japanese sumo wrestling to the console, featuring competitive dohyo bouts where timing, leverage, and positioning determine victory.
How to Play
Step onto the dohyo and aim to force your opponent out of the ring or down to the mat. Lock up with your opponent and execute pushes, thrusts, and throws using precise directional inputs and button presses.
Controls
- D-Pad / Arrow Keys: Move wrestler and select directional grappling techniques
- A / X: Execute thrusts and forward pushing attacks
- B / Z: Attempt grappling holds, throws, and counters
- Start / Enter: Start game / Pause
- Select / Shift: Select menu options
Tips
- Initiate grappling commands immediately upon ring contact to gain leverage before your opponent sets their defense.
- Keep track of your wrestler’s positioning near the boundary edge to avoid stepping outside during high-momentum pushes.
