Cheeky Mouse is a fast-paced action arcade game released by Universal in 1980. Playing as a custodian armed with a hammer, you must defend your stash of cheese from an endless swarm of invading mice. The rodents emerge from holes at the top of the screen and chew their way through the floorboards to steal your cheese, creating a frantic test of reflexes as you rush to smash them before they can escape with their prize.
How to Play
Your goal is to protect your cheese at the bottom of the screen from the mice. You lose a life if the mice successfully steal all your cheese, or if you touch one of the mystery pests that occasionally appear. Use the left and right arrow keys to move your character back and forth along the floor, and press the action keys (typically Z, X, or Space) to swing your hammer and strike the mice as they scurry past or gnaw through the floorboards.
Tips
- Target active chewers: Focus on the mice that are actively chewing through the floorboards, as they are the closest to reaching your cheese.
- Stay central: Stand near the center of the playfield when there is a lull, allowing you to react quickly to mice dropping from either side of the screen.
- Beware the pests: Watch out for the mystery pests; it is often better to let a mouse grab some cheese than to risk losing a life by accidentally touching a pest while trying to stop them.
