Game description:

Best of the Best Championship Karate is a one-on-one karate tournament simulation released for the Sega Genesis in 1992, developed and published by Loriciels and Futura. It stands apart from the era’s arcade fighters: there are no fireballs or special inputs — just deliberate, point-scoring bouts that reward timing and positioning over button speed.

How to play

Work through a series of tournament opponents, scoring points with clean, well-timed strikes. A single crisp technique to an open target scores; wild swings get blocked or countered. The match ends when the point limit is reached or time runs out.

Keyboard controls: arrow keys to move; S for the A button (light attack), X for B (medium), Z for C (heavy); Enter to start, Shift for Mode.

Tips

  • Wait before committing. Opponents telegraph their moves — a patient step back turns their attack into your scoring opportunity.
  • Distance is your main weapon. Hover just outside their reach to bait strikes, then close the gap for a single clean point.
