Bermuda Triangle is a vertically scrolling shoot ’em up released for the arcades by SNK in 1987. Taking on the role of the time-space battleship ZIG, players are tasked with defending human history by travelling through different eras and fending off mysterious enemies. In a genre dominated by nimble, fragile fighters, Bermuda Triangle stands out by giving you command of a heavier, more substantial ship that relies on a unique eight-direction rotating turret and adjustable formations of support options to survive the shifting battlefields.
How to Play
Your objective is to navigate the ZIG through multiple time periods while eliminating enemy forces. Instead of a traditional life counter, your ship uses a fuel bar that depletes as you take damage. Control the ZIG’s movement and aim your rotating turret to take out threats coming from any angle. Collect power-ups to alter your ship’s capabilities and gather small support ships (options) for extra firepower, which can be repositioned using the secondary action button.

Tips
- Manage your turret: The eight-way firing system is your greatest advantage. Anticipate enemy waves and rotate your fire to cover your flanks rather than relying purely on dodging.
- Protect your fuel: Since your fuel bar acts as your health, minor hits won’t destroy you instantly, but they will wear you down quickly. Prioritise avoiding damage over pursuing risky targets.
- Experiment with formations: Use your secondary button to adjust the spread of your support options. A tight formation is ideal for focusing down heavy targets, while a wide spread helps clear weaker enemies on the sides.
