Battle Formula (released in the West as Super Spy Hunter) is a high-speed vertical scrolling vehicular combat game released for the NES in 1991 by Sunsoft. While it shares similarities with the classic arcade game, it leans much more heavily into shoot ’em up territory, equipping your red sports car with an arsenal of weapons to blast through intense enemy blockades and challenging boss fights.
How to Play
Navigate the dangerous highways and take down enemy vehicles. In the browser, use the Arrow Keys to steer, accelerate, and brake. Press X to fire your primary weapon and Z to use your secondary weapons or specials. Use Enter for Start and Shift for Select.
Tips
- Keep an eye out for red trucks; destroying them drops essential power-ups to upgrade your primary guns and provide secondary weapons.
- You can shoot backwards as well as forwards, which is crucial for dealing with enemies that try to ram you from behind.
- Treat boss encounters like a bullet hell shooterโfocus more on weaving through their projectiles than dealing damage, as survival is the priority.
