Game description:

Auto-Upturn is an unlicensed puzzle game developed by Sachen in 1991 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). In this obscure release, you are challenged to reassemble scrambled pictures across seven different rounds while dodging enemies that roam the play area.

How to Play

Each puzzle consists of an image divided into a grid of 30 scrambled tiles. You control an avatar that must pick up and swap these tiles into their correct positions within a 10-minute time limit. Colliding with enemies drains your health, and losing your health costs one of your three lives. The game uses standard browser-based NES controls: navigate the board with the arrow keys, use Z and X to interact with the tiles, and press Enter or Shift for Start and Select.

Tips

  • You can pause the game to view the completed, unscrambled image, but do so sparinglyโ€”the preview’s quality degrades each time you look at it, making it harder to decipher later.
  • Focus on clearing space early by moving tiles to their correct edges, which gives you more room to dodge roaming enemies safely.
