Game description:

Atomic Robo-Kid is a sci-fi action shoot ’em up released for the Sega Genesis in 1990. Originally an arcade title by UPL and ported by Treco, it puts you in control of a heavily armed cyborg tasked with navigating treacherous, free-scrolling alien environments. Unlike traditional auto-scrolling shooters, you control the pace of exploration, carefully flying or walking through labyrinthine stages, engaging in fierce 1-on-1 boss duels, and collecting a variety of weapon upgrades to survive the hostile world.

How to Play

The objective is to reach the end of each stage, defeating enemy mutants and overcoming challenging boss encounters. The default Genesis controls map the D-pad (Arrow Keys) for movement and aiming. Use the A/B/C buttons (mapped to Z/X/C) to jump, fly, and fire your equipped weapon. You can freely explore the stages in multiple directions.

Tips

  • Master Your Arsenal: You’ll find different weapons like the 3-Way spread shot or missiles. The right weapon makes certain boss encounters significantly easier, so experiment with your loadout.
  • Watch Your Flight Meter: Flying is essential for evasion and reaching new areas, but it isn’t unlimited. Keep an eye on your energy and land safely before it depletes.
  • Pace Yourself: Because the screen doesn’t auto-scroll, take your time to clear out enemies and avoid rushing headlong into traps.
