Game description:

Atari Anniversary Edition Redux is a 2001 compilation for PlayStation, developed by Digital Eclipse and published by Infogrames, that gathers twelve classic Atari arcade games onto one disc: Asteroids, Asteroids Deluxe, Battlezone, Black Widow, Centipede, Gravitar, Missile Command, Pong, Space Duel, Super Breakout, Tempest, and Warlords. This PlayStation release differs from the same year’s Dreamcast and PC version, which included Millipede and Crystal Castles instead of Black Widow and Space Duel. Alongside the games themselves, the disc includes interviews with Atari co-founder Nolan Bushnell and a gallery of original box art and manuals.

How to play

Pick a game from the menu with the arrow keys and confirm with Enter. Each of the twelve is a faithful port of its original arcade cabinet rather than a simplified remake, so controls stay close to the source: movement and aiming on the arrow keys, with Z and X standing in for the cabinet’s action buttons. Vector-era titles like Asteroids, Tempest, and Battlezone were built around a joystick and one or two buttons in the arcades, so that scheme carries over cleanly to a keyboard or controller.
