Game description:

Developed by SNK and brought to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993, Art of Fighting is a groundbreaking 2D fighting game that follows Ryo Sakazaki and Robert Garcia as they battle through South Town to rescue Ryo’s kidnapped sister. The game stands out from its contemporaries with its massive, dynamically scaling character sprites and the introduction of a Spirit Gauge that limits the use of special attacks.

How to Play

The goal is to defeat your opponent in a best-of-three martial arts bout. You must manage your Spirit Gauge alongside your health; using special attacks drains it, while holding an attack button or taunting your opponent recharges it. The standard SNES controls mapped to your browser are the arrow keys for movement and jumping, Z, X, A, and S for punches and kicks, Q and W for the L and R shoulder buttons, Enter for Start, and Shift for Select.

Tips

  • Taunt your opponent regularly. Not only does it drain their Spirit Gauge to prevent them from throwing projectiles, but it also forces them to fight you up close.
  • When your health bar flashes red, you gain access to a hidden desperation move. These attacks deal devastating damage and can instantly turn the tide of a match if landed successfully.
