Developed by Natsume and published by Bandai in 1994, this SNES side-scrolling beat ’em up captures the structure of the television show. Players select one of the five original teenagers, fight through platforming segments against Putty Patrollers, and morph into their Ranger forms halfway through the stage. The later levels switch the format entirely, putting you in the Megazord for one-on-one kaiju battles.
How to play
The game consists of side-scrolling combat and platforming. You start each stage in civilian form, but morphing grants you a signature weapon and an extended attack range. Move with the arrow keys. Attack with S (mapped to the Y button), jump with X (the B button), and use your character’s special attack with A (the X button). Press Enter to pause or start the game.
Tips
- Wall jumping: In Ranger form, you can jump off walls by springing toward a wall and pressing jump again along with the opposite direction. This is required to navigate several vertical platforming sections.
- Conserve your special: You only get one screen-clearing bomb attack per life once morphed. Save it for the boss fight at the end of the stage.
- Megazord combat: During the giant robot fights, watch the power meter at the bottom of the screen. When it fills up and flashes, press your special attack button to unleash a devastating projectile attack.
