Fantastic Night Dreams – Cotton Original brings the arcade classic cute ’em up to the PlayStation. Originally developed by Success, you play as the candy-obsessed young witch Cotton, flying on her broomstick alongside her fairy companion, Silk. This side-scrolling shooter is known for its vibrant anime-style graphics and challenging waves of enemies, with a magic system built around collecting colourful crystals.
How to play
The objective is to blast your way through stages, defeating monsters and bosses to collect Willow candies. Fly using the D-pad, which is mapped to your keyboard’s arrow keys. You have a primary shot and magic bombs, typically mapped to the Z and X keys. Your magic can be powered up by collecting the crystals dropped by enemies. Use the Enter key for Start to begin your game.
Tips
Try shooting the crystals multiple times before picking them up to cycle through magic types like fire dragons and lightning. Be careful not to shoot them too much, or they will break. Saving your powerful magic spells for the stage bosses makes the later, more chaotic levels much easier to survive.
