Developed by Acclaim Studios Salt Lake City and published by Acclaim Entertainment in 2000, ECW Anarchy Rulz is a professional wrestling fighting game for the PlayStation and the sequel to ECW Hardcore Revolution, released earlier that same year. Built around the hardcore, weapons-heavy style of Extreme Championship Wrestling, it groups its roster into rival stables and pushes matches out of the ring and into brawls fought with tables, chairs, and dumpsters.
How to Play
Career Mode covers singles, tag team, and stable-based runs, Belt Tour Mode offers four tournament formats, and Bio Mode lets you browse wrestler stats. Beyond standard bouts, the match list includes a Table Match, Dumpster Match, Inferno Match, Rage in a Cage, Hate Match, Backlot Brawl, Brimstone Match, One-on-Two, One-on-Three, Team Rumble, and Tag Tournament, alongside create-a-wrestler and custom-stable options. Default browser controls for the PS1 emulator are mapped as follows:
- Arrow Keys (D-Pad): Move around the ring, crouch, or navigate the brawl area
- Z Key (Square Button): Punch / Strike attack
- X Key (Cross Button): Kick attack
- C Key (Circle Button): Run toward opponent / Grab a weapon or downed rival
- S Key (Triangle Button): Block incoming strikes / Initiate grapple
- Enter (Start): Pause match / View options menu
Tips
- Know each match’s win condition: a Table Match ends when you put your opponent through a table, and a Dumpster Match ends when you shove your rival into the dumpster and close the lid â brawling aimlessly won’t finish either one.
- Lean on your stable: since wrestlers are grouped into rival factions, Team Rumble and Tag Tournament matches reward using a stablemate to gang up and cut off your opponent’s escape routes.
