Game description:

Joy Mech Fight is a unique 1993 2D fighting game developed by Nintendo for the NES. To work around the hardware sprite limitations, the developers designed characters entirely out of disembodied, floating limbs and heads. This allowed for large, fluid character animations that were otherwise impossible on the 8-bit console. Players take on the role of Sukapon, a comedy robot reprogrammed for combat, fighting through a tournament to defeat evil robots and save the world.

The objective is to deplete your opponent’s health bar by landing strikes and special moves in a best-of-three 1-on-1 fighting format. On the NES, combat utilizes the D-pad for movement, blocking, and jumping, while the A and B buttons execute kicks and punches. In this browser version, use your arrow keys to move, Z and X to attack, and Enter and Shift for Start and Select.

Each character has unique special moves performed using classic fighting game inputs, such as quarter-circle forward plus an attack button. As Sukapon, mastering his rolling attack is excellent for closing distance quickly. Remember that since characters lack solid bodies, you only take damage if the opponent’s strike connects with your character’s head or limbs, making spacing and timing crucial.
