Heretic is a dark fantasy action-shooter developed by Raven Software Corporation and released for DOS in 1994. How to play

As the elven outcast Corvus, your objective is to battle through three episodes of undead gargoyles, golems, and disciples to defeat the serpent rider D’Sparil. Use the arrow keys to move, Alt to strafe, and Ctrl to fire your current weapon. The inventory system allows you to cycle through collected items like health flasks using the bracket keys and activate them with Enter.

Tips

The Tome of Power is the game’s most valuable item—using it temporarily transforms your weapons’ alternate firing modes, turning the basic Elven Wand into a rapid-fire spread weapon.
If you are cornered or knocked into a hazard, quickly activate the Wings of Wrath to gain the ability to fly and reposition yourself to safety.
