Game description:

Developed by TOSE and released in 1993, Dig & Spike Volleyball is a competitive SNES sports title that brings both indoor and outdoor volleyball to the console. The game notably features two distinct play styles in a single package: a men’s 6-on-6 indoor mode focusing on structured team rotations and powerful court plays, alongside a women’s 2-on-2 beach mode where covering the sand with fewer players demands quick reflexes and strategic positioning.

How to Play

Your objective is to outscore the opposing team by successfully grounding the ball on their side of the net. Movement is handled with the arrow keys. You can serve, bump, set, and spike using the Z, X, A, and S keys (which map to the standard SNES face buttons), while Enter and Shift act as Start and Select. Timing your button presses correctly as the ball approaches is essential for executing strong spikes and solid blocks.

Tips

  • In the indoor mode, pay close attention to your blockers at the net; a well-timed block can completely shut down the opponent’s spike.
  • Beach mode is much faster paced due to having only two players; always ensure one player covers the backcourt while the other plays near the net.
  • Vary your serves between short drops and deep drives to disrupt the opposing team’s receiving rhythm.
