Developed by Virgin Interactive, Cool Spot is a classic 1994 platformer for the Sega Genesis starring the sunglasses-wearing mascot of the 7 Up brand. Known for its fluid animation and upbeat soundtrack, the game tasks you with navigating oversized, everyday environments from a miniature perspective to rescue your fellow Spots.
How to Play
Your objective in each level is to collect a minimum number of red “cool points” to unlock the cage holding a captive Spot before the timer runs out. For the browser emulator, the default Sega Genesis controls are mapped to your keyboard: use the arrow keys to move, press Enter to start, and use the Z, X, and C keys to jump and shoot carbonated bubbles.
Tips
- Spot can fire bubbles in all eight directions. Use diagonal and upward shots to safely eliminate enemies before they get too close.
- The minimum number of cool points required to finish the level is displayed on screen. Once you hit that target, focus on finding the cage if time is running low.
- Collecting enough extra cool points beyond the minimum requirement allows you to enter a bonus stage at the end of the level, where you can bounce around inside a giant 7 Up bottle to earn a continue.
