Developed by Atari Games and published by Domark in 1989, Escape from the Planet of the Robot Monsters brings the classic isometric arcade shooter to DOS. You play as a member of the interplanetary SWAT team sent to Planet X to blast through hordes of mechanical enemies, navigate trap-filled industrial mazes, and rescue human hostages from their captors.
How to play
Your objective is to explore the isometric levels, free the captive humans, and defeat the boss at the end of each stage. Use your keyboard exactly as you would on original DOS hardwareโtypically the arrow keys for movement and standard action keys for jumping and firing your ray gun. If you have a gamepad connected, the browser emulator should pick it up automatically. Press Right Alt + Enter to toggle full screen.
Tips
- Collect the green crystals dropped by destroyed robots to upgrade your ray gun's power.
- Be extremely careful when triggering bombs to clear a room, as the blast will also harm any innocent hostages nearby.
- Hostages are often trapped in stasis pods or glass cases; shoot the nearby computer terminals to release them safely.
