Game description:

Quester is a classic block-breaking arcade game developed by Namco in 1987. Produced by Toru Iwatani, the creator of Pac-Man, the game puts players in command of a paddle-like spacecraft defending against formations of mysterious space organisms. Spanning 33 distinct rounds, it offers an engaging spin on the brick-breaker genre, featuring unique power-up items that enlarge your paddle, deploy protective barriers, or split the ball into multiple projectiles.

How to Play

Your objective is to clear all the space organism blocks on the screen to advance to the next round without letting the ball fall past your paddle. Use the Left and Right arrow keys to move your spacecraft horizontally across the bottom of the screen. Press the Spacebar or Z key to launch the ball at the start of a round or after losing a life. Catch falling power-ups to gain special abilities that help clear the screen faster.

Tips

  • Prioritize catching power-ups that split the ball into multiple pieces, as this can rapidly clear out dense clusters of blocks.
  • Be careful when using the barrier power-up; while it temporarily prevents the ball from dropping off the screen, you must still be ready to react once the barrier wears off.
  • Keep your eyes on the ball’s trajectory rather than your paddle to better anticipate where it will land, especially as the ball speed increases in later rounds.
