Ghosts ‘n Goblins is a legendary run-and-gun platformer released by Capcom for arcades in 1985. Players take control of the valiant knight Sir Arthur on a punishing quest through a demon-infested realm to rescue Princess Prin-Prin from the demon king Astaroth. Renowned for its brutal difficulty, the game requires precise timing, quick reflexes, and mastering Arthur’s throwing weapons to survive the endless waves of zombies, flying demons, and towering bosses.
How to Play
Your objective is to reach the end of each stage before the timer runs out, defeating enemies and ultimately rescuing the princess. Sir Arthur can jump, duck, and throw various weapons picked up along the way, such as lances, daggers, and torches. Taking a hit strips Arthur of his armor, leaving him vulnerable in his boxers, and a second hit costs a life.
Controls: Use the arrow keys to move, duck, and climb ladders. Press Z to jump and X to throw your current weapon. Press Shift to insert a coin and Enter to start the game.
Tips
- Keep the Dagger: The dagger is arguably the best weapon in the game due to its rapid fire rate. Try to hold onto it and avoid picking up the torch, which travels in an awkward arc.
- Prepare for the Red Arremer: The winged demons (Red Arremers) are highly evasive and react to your attacks. Wait for them to swoop down before trying to land a hit.
- Mind the Timer: Every stage has a strict time limit. Don’t linger too long in one spot fighting infinitely respawning enemies.
