Zaviga is a 1984 vertical-scrolling shoot ’em up for the arcade, developed and published by Data East. Players fend off an alien invasion in a ship that switches forms depending on altitude: a fighter that flies above the terrain, and a tank that rolls along the ground and can crash into obstacles down there. In either form the ship fires forward and drops bombs, though the bombs only find their mark against ground targets while flying. Up to two players can take turns working through a single, unbroken level that keeps throwing tougher waves of enemies at you as it goes.
How to Play
The goal is to survive the enemy onslaught and clear out as much of the invasion as you can before your ship is lost. Arcade controls in the browser map the joystick to the arrow keys, with the main shot on Z and the bomb drop on X. Insert virtual coins with Shift and press Enter to start.
