Developed by Avitex in 2000, X-Men: Mutant Wars is a side-scrolling beat ’em up for the Game Boy Color. Players guide a team of iconic mutants through various stages to foil Magneto’s plans, taking on hordes of cyborg enemies along the way.

How to play

The core feature of the game is the ability to swap between five characters—Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, Iceman, and Gambit—at any time during the action. Each hero has unique mutant abilities and attacks. Use the D-pad (arrow keys) to move, and the A and B buttons (mapped to Z and X) to jump and attack. The Select button (Shift) brings up the character swap menu.
