Game description:

Worms is a classic 1996 turn-based artillery strategy game for the SNES where up to four teams of heavily armed invertebrates take turns destroying each other across randomly generated, fully destructible 2D landscapes. Using an arsenal that ranges from conventional bazookas and shotguns to bizarre weapons like the exploding sheep, players must carefully calculate firing angles, power, and wind speed to eliminate opposing teams and be the last squad standing.

How to Play

The objective is to eliminate all enemy worms before your own team is wiped out. You have a strict time limit for each turn to move, select a weapon, and attack. Use the D-pad to move your worm and adjust the aiming reticle. The B button opens your weapon inventory, while A makes your worm jump. Once your aim is set, hold the Y button to charge the power of your shot and release to fire. The L and R bumpers change the fuse timer on grenades. In your browser, the SNES controls map to the arrow keys (D-pad), Z/X/S/A (A/B/X/Y), Q/E (L/R bumpers), and Enter/Shift (Start/Select).

Tips

  • Mind the wind: Always check the wind indicator at the bottom of the screen before firing bazookas, as a strong gust will completely alter your missile’s trajectory.
  • Dig in: If you are exposed, use the blowtorch to dig into the terrain and create a safe bunker to protect your worm from enemy fire.
  • The Ninja Rope is key: Mastering the Ninja Rope allows you to traverse the entire map quickly, reach supply crates, and drop dynamite on enemies from above before retreating to safety.
