Released in 1992 by Konami, World Circuit Series (known as F-1 Spirit in Japan) is a top-down racing game for the Game Boy that brings high-speed motorsport to a portable format. Rather than sticking exclusively to Formula One, the game allows players to progress through different tiers of racing, starting in slower classes like Formula 3 and working their way up to the blistering speeds of F1.
How to Play
Your goal is to complete races across international circuits, managing your vehicle’s speed and position to secure a spot on the podium. Use the arrow keys (D-pad) to steer, press Z (A) to accelerate, and press X (B) to brake. Press Enter (Start) to pause the game.
Tips
- Memorize the track layouts; the top-down perspective gives you very little reaction time when approaching sharp corners at high speeds.
- Brake early before tight turns to maintain your racing line and avoid collisions, which will severely slow you down.
