Game description:

World Boxing is a sports simulation game developed by Natsume and released exclusively in Japan for the Famicom in 1990. Unlike other boxing titles of the era that opted for a behind-the-back camera, it places players directly in the ring from a first-person perspective, delivering a more immersive approach to the sport. The game features a single-player career mode as well as a two-player mode for head-to-head matches.

How to play

The objective is to defeat your opponent in the boxing ring. Default controls for the NES apply: use the D-pad to move and dodge, A and B for punching, and Start/Select to pause or choose options. In the browser, these map to the arrow keys for movement, Z and X for actions, and Enter/Shift for Start and Select.

Tips

  • Timing your dodges is crucial in the first-person perspective; wait for your opponent to telegraph their punch before weaving.
  • Conserve your stamina by landing precise hits rather than throwing wild flurries of punches.
