Game description:

Wizardry I-II-III: Story of Llylgamyn is a classic RPG compilation released for the Super Nintendo (SNES) in 1999, originally available via the Japanese Nintendo Power flash cartridge service. This definitive collection brings together full remakes of the legendary first three scenarios of the iconic dungeon-crawling series: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord, The Knight of Diamonds, and Legacy of Llylgamyn. Featuring enhanced 16-bit graphics and an updated interface while faithfully retaining the unforgiving turn-based combat and deep party customization of the originals, it offers an authentic vintage RPG experience. Notably, this version includes options for both English and Japanese text, making it highly accessible to western players.

How to Play

As a classic first-person grid-based dungeon crawler, your objective is to assemble a balanced party of up to six adventurers, carefully manage your resources, and survive deep labyrinthine dungeons. The default controls map the SNES D-pad to the arrow keys for navigating menus and stepping through the dungeon. Use the Z key (SNES B) to cancel or go back, the X key (SNES A) to confirm actions, and the Enter key (Start) to access the main party menu.

Tips

  • Bring a Thief: Always include a Thief in your party; chest traps are deadly and you need a specialized class to identify and disarm them safely.
  • Conserve Magic: Spell points are limited and only recharge when you rest in town. Don’t waste high-level magic on weak encounters on the upper floors.
  • Equip Your Gear: A classic mistake in early RPGs is buying weapons and armor but forgetting to actively equip them in the menu before entering the dungeon.
